De Colombiaanse autocoureur Tatiana Calderón heeft promotie gemaakt bij het Formule 1-team Alfa Romeo Sauber. De 24-jarige vrouw maakte afgelopen seizoen deel uit van het opleidingsteam van Sauber.
Dit jaar is ze de officiële testcoureur van de renstal. Calderón gaat testwerk doen op de simulator en is ook bij heel wat grands prix aanwezig op het circuit. Daarnaast racet ze opnieuw in de GP3 Series.
,,Tatiana werkt heel hard en heeft indruk op ons gemaakt met haar focus en toewijding'', zei teambaas Frédéric Vasseur. ,,Als coureur heeft ze zich goed ontwikkeld, zowel mentaal als fysiek. We zijn blij dat we Tatiana aan boord hebben tijdens ons eerste jaar als Alfa Romeo Sauber.''
De Italiaanse autofabrikant Alfa Romeo is na 30 jaar afwezigheid als partner van de Zwitserse renstal terug in de Formule 1. Daardoor is de bolide nu rood en wit van kleur.
