Op sociale media is er veel kritiek over de zogenaamde 'Game Pass' die geïnteresseerden konden kopen zodat zij naar de Super Bowl konden kijken. Met name Australische American Football-liefhebbers waren de pineut. Omdat er zóvéél (lees: miljoenen) mensen keken naar de wedstrijd, kon de streamingdienst het aantal kijkers niet aan.
Australiërs konden de wedstrijd sowieso al gratis kijken: op Channel 7. Toch kochten een hoop de Game Pass om zo de vele reclames te omzeilen. Voor 28 dollar hadden zij zo'n pas te pakken. Dat is meer geld dan een reguliere pass die tijdens het NFL-seizoen gehanteerd werd. Alleen... die werkte dus niet of nauwelijks.

Niet alleen Australiërs hadden hier last van. Gedupeerden lieten hun emoties de vrije loop op sociale media:
