Het overlijden van ploegleider Nicolas Portal is hard aangekomen bij de wielrenners van Team INEOS. Op sociale media reageren onder meer Chris Froome en Geraint Thomas op de plotselinge dood van de Fransman.
De renners van de Britse formatie beschrijven Portal als een hele warme man. "Hij was meer dan een collega, hij was mijn vriend", zo schrijft ex-Tourwinnaar Thomas. De Nederlander Dylan van Baarle kan amper woorden vinden voor het overlijden van Portal: "Mijn gedachten zijn bij zijn vrienden en familie. Het leven is zo oneerlijk."
