Bij de opening van de World Matchplay 2021 in Blackpool maakte de dartsbond PDC indruk met een werkelijk prachtig eerbetoon aan de donderdag overleden dartslegende Andy Fordham. De 'Viking' werd 59 jaar oud.
In de Winter Gardens werd een foto van Fordham afgebeeld en wat volgde was een intens applaus. Fordham, in 2004 wereldkampioen, overleed aan leverfalen. Het afscheid werd op internet als ontroerend gezien:
